Musicbox #2 - The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

Now, I know that this not My Chem’s most recent CD, but it’s definitely one of their best, which is why I have decided to write about The Black Parade out of all the great My Chemical Romance CDs. My Chemical Romance is known for telling incredible stories through their music, and with The Black Parade you can really feel the true emotions in every one of the songs. It is definitely the most personal of all of their CDs, and it really makes you see Gerard Way (vocalist, lyricist) for who he is and the experiences he’s had. This is what has the power to make you fall in love with the music. You can just relate to every word of every song, even if you haven’t gone through any of the things the music portrays, it still makes you feel as though you know exactly what Gerard is feeling as if you were in his place living out these songs. If I'm not mistaken, all of this is what makes a band and an album so sucessful, and this is why I will be seeing My Chemical Romance perform at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in three weeks instead of a small club in San Francisco. People say they became popular because they sold out with their latest album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, but if you know My Chem, then you would know that's not true. They've had a small, but solid, fan base since the release of their first album (I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love), and that fan base continued to grow with the release of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. But it was The Black Parade that drew in the incredible following that they have today, and it's amazing to listen to all the CDs and hear how they have progressed as a band over the years.
